Chris Kelsey “CEO Kelsey”, a Pioneering Producer of Television & Film
CEO Kelsey began his professional career by interning for BET’s “Spring Bling” during his freshman year at Bethune Cookman College. The following year, he transferred his studies to Clark Atlanta University where he achieved a Bachelor of The Fine Arts and was awarded a degree in Radio, Television and Film. While at CAU, he continued his career by working as an intern on the set of several music video productions.
During the summer of his sophomore year, Kelsey landed an internship at Tyler Perry Studios on the Lion’s Gate distributed feature film “Daddy’s Little Girls.” Upon completion of this internship, he was offered a position as an Accounting Clerk on the pilot of Tyler Perry’s “House of Payne.” This opportunity served as the foundation to his astounding and immense background in production accounting.
Kelsey excelled in the production accounting department, working for various noteworthy production studios including Paramount Pictures, Showtime Pictures, Warner Brothers, 20thCentury Fox, truTV, Cartoon Network/Adult Swim, BET, MTV and FX.
As a result of much commitment and determination, he was merited the opportunity to work as a Lead Production Accountant for a brief time until he excelled higher by being recruited as a Finance Executive for Cartoon Network/Adult Swim at Warner Media Group. This position expanded his experience in the industry beyond national boarders to working and traveling internationally as well.
After much prayer and careful consideration in order to stay in alignment with his original purpose and intention to become a Producer of film and television, almost two years later, Kelsey was led to resign from the corporate finance position at the major network conglomerate and transitioned back into the trenches of production.
Desiring, a new yet unique experience and prospective of production along his journey; Kelsey decided to pursue a much different position in another department. Kelsey, with no school or formal training, mastered the knowledge and skillset of driving an 18 wheeled tractor-trailer, permitting him to become a “Class A CDL Driver”, and within nine months of his resignation. He went on to become a member of the prestigious union, “International Brotherhood of Teamsters-Film Crew division-Georgia Chapter, Local 728”, which consequently provided the opportunity for Kelsey to serve as Production Truck Driver on the set of various Film and TV shows.
Kelsey has had the opportunity to Produce meaningful independent projects, such as the Documentary “Wise old Owl”, based on, the late Hall of Fame College Basketball Coach, John Chaney and the feature film, “Dirty South House Arrest”, which featured actors and comedians such as LaTavia Roberson, Rodney Perry, DC Young Fly, Pierre Edwards, and many other talents.
Kelsey’s purpose and lifelong goal is “to put a positive impact on the world through film and television”. Professional, eccentric and innovative are a few words that colleagues use to describe Kelsey and his talents.
With almost two decades of experience, composed of several positions and vantage points in the entertainment industry; Kelsey is well seasoned, equipped and prepared to continually expand his impact on the world.
